This early brass eagle lectern stands on a wrought iron pedestal, thought to be Spanish and to be a later adaptation.

The surface of the wrought iron was heavily rusted, and the brass eagle required small repairs and cleaning to remove tarnish and polish deposits. The wrought iron was chemically treated to soften the rust and then hand polished. Due to the environmental conditions within the church, a hard lacquer was then applied to seal the surface, followed by the application of a maintenance coat of clear wax. Security fixings were also made and fitted to protect against theft.
